Operational lifetime assessment of a 12.3 MW wind farm with 6 turbines
Project Context
The Client selected 8.2 Advisory to perform a lifetime assessment for a 12.3 MW wind farm in France. The objective was to evaluate the remaining operational lifetime of key structural components based on site-specific wind conditions, load simulations, inspection findings, and applicable standards.
Scope of Work
8.2 Advisory provided an independent technical assessment, including:
- Review of project documentation and design wind conditions
- Analysis of long-term site-specific wind data
- Turbulence intensity assessment per turbine
- Aeroelastic load simulations and fatigue life calculations
- Review of structural inspections and recurrent turbine-type defects
- Consideration of uncertainties and sensitivity analysis
- Recommendations to support lifetime extension measures
Key Results
- Assessment of remaining lifetime for key structural components
- Identification of main risks and uncertainties
- Practical recommendations for inspections, replacements, and monitoring
- Clear inputs to support lifetime extension decisions
